Keyworth revolutionized the school system in Hamtramck, instituting programs that were adopted in schools across the U.S. and even three universities in the Soviet Union. He left the school district in 1935 and was elected state school superintendent. He was killed shortly afterward in an auto accident in the Upper Peninsula
